Top Celebrity Weddings of 2012 (and What They Should Have Been Wearing Under That Dress)

2012 has been a year for all sorts of celebrity news, especially who’s gotten engaged and who finally tied the knot. There were so many weddings between sports stars and singers that it was hard to choose our top favorites. However, we were finally able to narrow down the choices based on the amazing bridal bras we would recommend these photog darlings to wear under their couture wedding dresses! Not only that, we chose these lovely ladies based on the famous sweethearts that you love the most!

1. Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth

low cut bra, bridal lingerie, wedding bra, strapless bra, simon perele, reese witherspoon

With Reese’s beautiful choice of a lace, A-line dress, we picked the Simone Perele Premiere Strapless Plunge Bra! This Simone Perele number has cups that are cut low enough to provide coverage, yet not peek out the dress. When a bride chooses her under-the-dress lingerie, she’s usually looking for something that’s extra special, so the lace band provides such a touch. Also, the smoothness of the cups are seamless under any strapless dress!

2. Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied

bridal lingerie, wedding bustier, bustier, wedding dress bra, natalie portman

For Natalie’s wedding, she went a little more conservative in a traditional-style dress that included modest lace sleeves and a nipped-in waist. Her perfect match is the Felina Essentials Seamless Bustier; this style is strapless, so nothing will show under the sheer lace, and provides enough structure to hold everything up (Natalie’s dress is very structured itself, so having a supportive bustier is important).

3. Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman

panache, bridal bra, wedding lingerie, bustier, lace bustier, anne hathaway

With the delicate, yet extravagant details of Anne’s Valentino confection, we envisioned her wearing Panache’s Evie Bridal Basque Bustier. The fabric of this lingerie piece has equally delicate detailing, but is constructed with boning that is sturdy (this bustier will stay put under all those layers of fabric). The sizing of this Panache style is especially unique because it’s a large range–whether you’re a 32DD or a 38G!

4. Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman

maternity bra, drew barrymore, white bra, bridal lingerie

On Drew’s wedding day, not only did she get to put on a beautiful white dress, but she also got the celebrate the joys of becoming a mother! Because she happily sported a baby bump under her vintage-inspired, 3/4 length sleeve dress, we matched her with the Amoralia Nougatine Maternity Bra! This bra style from Amoralia has soft-lined cups that will provide comfort while dancing the night away and light boning to give structure. There are also straps that wouldn’t show under Drew’s lovely dress. For the pregnant bride, any old bra won’t do, so it’s important to have a maternity bra that will fit your needs!

After exploring the world of celebrity weddings, you’re probably starting to dream up your big day (or reminiscing if you already tied the knot). So, why not start with your lingerie drawer? This is the perfect excuse to practice having the perfect bra for a special occasion!

Are you part of the 80% or 20%? Let’s see…

When it comes to bras and getting measured, for some reason ladies…we’re getting it all wrong! Why do we do this to ourselves? We would never wear a pair of shoes that were too small, or had our foot slipping out of it, so why do it to our bras? So it’s time for some tough love. If your bra does any of the below…your wearing the wrong sized bra!

**Do keep in mind that different brands use different sizes, so although you may think you know your bra size, it may vary between brands.**

So it’s time to ask yourself…does your bra really fit?

Red imprints of your straps?

Shoulder strap problems

    1. Straps dig in?

At the end of a long day, you take off your bra…Now, do you see red marks where your straps have been digging in? If the answer to this is yes…you’re wearing the wrong sized bra!

A lot of women believe that the support comes from the straps this couldn’t be further from the truth. The support comes from the band. So if your straps are digging in you are doing more harm than good. You need to look at reducing your band size to get more support.

   2. Gaping in the cups?

gaping cup?

What may seem obvious, is still quite a common problem. The cups on the bra are too big. Do you have space in the cups, and do they gape a little when you move around? Did you answer yes?In that case, you guessed it…you’re wearing the wrong size bra! The solution to this is simple, look at changing your cup size. By having a better fitting bra, you will not only feel more comfortable, but you will get much more support and lift!

center gore problems?

Center gore issues?

Is the center gore (the bit in the middle) flat on your chest?

Have you ever looked down at your chest and seen that the center bit isn’t touching your chest at all? If your answer is yes…you’re wearing the wrong sized bra!

The center gore should be touching your sternum (so your body) If not it means that the band isn’t giving you the right support.

Is your band riding up your back?

back band problems?

This is one of the most common problems. Your band should sit comfortably below your shoulder blades and should not ride up. If you walk down the street on a summer’s day, I bet that you can spot at least 10 women in a busy street with a  bra that rides up at the back (that’s how common it is!) The usual blame goes to the breasts being too heavy. Again, this is just a myth. Has your bra ever ridden up to look like the picture above? If you answered yes…you’re wearing the wrong sized bra! You should consider going down a  band size, and remember when you buy a bra it should fasten on the loosest hook (so when it stretches you can still wear it.)

Are your breasts inside of your cup?

over spill?

Often referred to as a “quadraboob” is when you squeeze your breasts into a cup size too small, as demonstrated in both of these pictures below. Have you ever noticed your breasts either slip out of your cup at the side or over the top? If the answer is yes…you guessed it…You’re wearing the wrong sized bra!

Quadraboob

The solution to this problem is that you need to increase your cup size. As you can see from the picture on the left, the breast isn’t fully inside the cup. When you increase cup size, you should also double-check that your band remains supportive. If you are falling out over the top of your bra (which really doesn’t look good, and yes girls people notice!) then again look at increasing your cup size.

So now we’ve seen some great examples of badly fitting bras…what should you be looking for? Check out these bras (which actually fit their models, unlike some of these brands) Can you see the difference? Next time you go bra shopping make sure, you get the right sized bra!

With a beautiful wedding dress comes great responsibility- finding the right bra!

You have finally got the wedding dress you’ve been dreaming of since you were a little girl… but now you have all these questions going through your head like “what if my dress falls down?” or “do I even wear a bra?” or “To corset or not to corset?” Stop worrying, the brayola girls have your back! We have a few hints and tips to consider when looking for the perfect bra for your special day! We know if you’re fully equipped with the right underwear it can transform your figure, lift your bust and enhance the fit of your dress!

So to begin, you can’t do anything without knowing the shape of your dress. Understanding where it sits is crucial! Take someone with you to look at the back of the dress the last thing you want is a bra strap peeking out over the top of your dress!

So if your dress is…

Strapless (like Joanna Garcia- wearing  Monique Lhuillier)

Joanna Garcia

This classic style is probably the most problematic. We hear a lot of “i’m scared my dress will slip down, or i’ll be pulling my dress up all day!” Whether you have a small bust or large one, this is a common problem. The solution, not surprisingly, is getting a good strapless bra!

Calvin Klein Strapless Bra

If you are looking for a bra that will support and enhance your bust, we would recommend the Calvin Klein Seductive Comfort Customized Lift Strapless Bra. This bra has a delicate lace trimming surrounding the cups, which gives a very elegant look. The cups, also come with a contour push up, giving you great shape!

Stella McCa

Looking for a sexy basque under your dress? We love the Stella Mcartney’s Josephine Marrying satin corset. This beautifully crafted champagne satin corset with blush lace trims will make a sensational underpinning to your bridal gown.

OR

BRA6

If you are slightly larger around the bust area (DD+) and looking for great support look no further than the Lane Byrant Cacique range, BRA6 convertible plunge bra. This seamless convertible bra is perfect to hold and support your bust on your big day.

Dominique Bustier

Bigger busted? Looking for a waist cinching basque and that that will keep your girls in place? We know the perfect bra for you! Dominque All Lace Long Line Bustier Bra. We’ve spoken to  women who are D-F cups who have sworn by this bra  telling us how comfortable this bra was (although always go a size up!) so we are happy to recommend it :)

Backless (like Postia de Rossi wearing  Zac Posen)

Portia de Rossi

Backless is such a beautiful style which many women (especially if you have a large bust) think they can’t do! There are solutions (and really good ones!) if you do want support.

flattering me bra

One of our favorites is the flattering me long line bra. It claims it is the only long line strapless bra in the world that will give you cleavage, support and low back! It’s seamless,so it does not show through most gowns, it contours the bodice, and it claims to be very comfortable!

Felina Bustier

If your dress is not as low as Portia’s we would suggest looking at the Felina Essentials Seamless Hidden Wire Bustier Bra. This backless, strapless bustier bra features push up padding for cleavage and cushioned boning for a slimming effect. Perfect for any low back dress care free.

Sassybax backless bra

Other solutions to look at when wearing a backless dress, (especially if you don’t want to go braless) is the Sassybax Very Bare Backless Bra. It has skin friendly silicone adhesive which claims to last up to 50 wearings, and goes up to DD cups. If you are an A or AA cup this bra even comes with added push up pads, giving you a great boost and shape! Our only warning with this (and any adhesive bra) would be to take it on a test run first! The last thing you want on your big day is to get into an “unsticky” situation!!

Choosing the right bra for the perfect dress is a big decision, and it has to be the right one, so here’s a little recap, plus some extra handy hints to get you started….

1. Check how low the back is on your dress (even if you don’t think it’s low- make sure someone  double checks for you)
2.  Whichever type of bra  you choose, whether it’s a longline, strapless or adhesive; is comfortable to wear (wear it for a day or so just to make sure!)
3. Take your bra to ALL of your fittings it is so vital, and you want to know what the dress will look like on the big day :)
4. Check the fabric of your dress. If you can see your lace bra through the material make sure you choose a seamless bra!
5. The best advice for any bride make sure your bra fits. A badly fit bra will have an effect of how the dress looks. Make sure you get a bra fitting especially for the wedding, as a lot of bridal brands come in different sizes!

Can you help any Brides To Be? We would love to hear what you wore on your wedding day? Have any bra disasters or bra wonders? Or maybe you are a bride to be and don’t know what to wear? No question is too small :)

Love the brayola team
